School News and Community Interests:
The
Boxtops collection campaign will continue this year at Pulaski Elementary.
Students should bring their boxtops to school in an envelope or zip lock bag
including their name and their teacher's name. Visit
www.boxtops4education.com for additional
information. The classroom collecting the most boxtops will be treated
to a class party at the end of the year.
Lake Cumberland Health Department will visit 2nd Grade on Friday, February
5. The discussion will be on Nutrition.
PTA Meeting -
February 18, 2010 - PTA Meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. Our
Spotlight will be on Second Grade.
The Tooth Fairy will visit Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Classrooms on February 19. The discussion will be on Oral Hygiene.
(1:15 PM & 2:00 PM)
The Central Kentucky Blood Center (CKBC) will be
coming to PES on Thursday, February 25. The blood drive will be held
in the school cafeteria from 2:30-7:00 PM.
The Pulaski County Adult Education Program is now offering English literacy and civics education classes to immigrants and other limited English proficient individuals. Students will learn the basic skills they need to function effectively as workers, family members, and citizens. Students will also have the opportunity to learn local, state, and U.S. history and government, the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and the naturalization process and test.

Help your child become a better reader by keeping books, magazines,
newspapers, and other reading materials available in your home.
Looking Ahead
November 12, 2009 - Our volunteer orientation will be held at 8:30 AM in the gym. This is a mandatory orientation for all volunteers working at Pulaski Elementary.
November 19, 2009 - PTA meeting at 7:00 PM. Spotlight will be on our Fourth Grade.
November 20, 2009 - The Family Resource Advisory Council will meet at 7:30 AM in the school media center.
*****Attention Fifth Grade Parents*****

During the second nine weeks, all fifth graders are required to earn ten (10) AR Points.

Attendance Policy:
Teacher will call after 2 consecutive absences.
After 3 unexcused absences/tardies/early
dismissals, a letter will be sent home.
After 4 unexcused absences/tardies/early
dismissals, Family Resource Center will call home.
After 5 unexcused absences/tardies/early
dismissals, the Family Resource Center will send a letter to the Dept. of
Community Based Services.
After 6 unexcused absences/tardies/early dismissals,
Family Resource Center will conduct a home visit.
After 7 unexcused absences/tardies/early
dismissals, the family will be referred to the district social worker. The
district social worker will contact the Dept. of Community Based Services and a
meeting will be held at the school.
If attendance does not improve, then a petition will be filed in family
court for educational neglect.
